Mid-Season Balance Patch: February 19th, 2026

We’ve got a slate of balance changes lined up that will have you swooning. Let’s get after it…

New Card - Gentle Giant

This new shared pool giant is here to help you survive the early game but he’s a lover, not a fighter. Don’t expect him to harm your opponents too badly with his gentle demeanor.

Card Changes

Beanie Baby

We’ve noticed that Beanie Baby was not surviving consistently enough early in games and lacked incentive to play it in decklists. We hope this slight stat increase makes it a more intriguing option for those who want our favorite collectible worthless treasure.

Fires of Ares & Blessing of Athena

Now buffs a slot +8 Attack instead of +6

Now buffs a slot +8 Health instead of +6.

These two spells have not felt as special since the introduction of Candylar and the many Candy spells. We’ve decided to give them a bit of a boost so they might be more attractive as casting options even when you aren’t on a casting focused build.

Catatouille

Catatouille’s stat line has made it a bit of a tough pick in some games. Giving her a healthy bump in Health will hopefully make her a tastier inclusion in your decklists and less of a risky recruit while drafting.

King Arthur & Chief Evil Officer

Now double his buff when you golden any character, not just heroes.

Now doubles his buff when you golden any character, not just villains.

Arthur and CEO have long been our introductory Captains for new players. Despite their lack of flashy abilities, they’ve generally performed about as well as other captains. That said, as time passes and more Captains have been added, we decided they needed another boost to make them more appealing during Captain selection.

Green Beard

now buffs himself and his neighbors +4/+4 instead of just his neighbors +5/+5.

Our floral bearded friend found himself in an awkward situation where the boards would outscale his ability to hunt, even when he was connecting. We’ve decided to let him buff himself as well as his neighbors to help him keep up but shaved the total buff number to balance this newfound power.

Jumping Jelly Beans

Now buffs itself as well as another random character instead of just another random character.

Similar to Greenbeard, Jumping Jelly Beans seemed to not quite make it into decklists due to its lack of scaling. We’ve decided to let it buff itself but here we did not shave the number because Candy requires its own scaling and Jelly Beans is a collectible card so there is a cost associated with the slot it uses in your decklist.

Jason of the Argonauts

Now gives a new co-captain every 3 turns instead of 4.

Our Captain with many friends has fallen a bit out of favor in recent months. By reducing the turn count down by 1, we give Jason a friend on an earlier turn so he’s not behind by a captain ability compared to other players and it means he’s likely to have at least 1 extra captain later in the game than he did previously.

Melody

Her buff now increases every 4 cards you pick instead of 5.

Like with Jason, Melody’s captain ability has been lagging behind further than we’d like as games progress. We’ve shaved her number down and now she gets to play in 4|4.

Mighty Mouse

Now gives Animals and Heroes in your shop +3/+3 instead of +4/+4 but when you recruit one, the ability improves by +3/+3 instead of +2/+2.

Mighty Mouse is an interesting character for us. We’ve decided to make its buff more symmetrical. Its initial buff will be smaller but subsequent buffs will be greater. We like that this will encourage keeping it around longer.

Other Changes and Bug Fixes

Dotty Dawdles now doubles slot buffs cast on slots with Mages in them
Lucky Chest and Luckier Chest no longer trigger when discovering a treasure off Treasure Find
Legend of Loxley can no longer be found on Thing in the Ice and Legend of Loxley can no longer find Timeline Duplicator
Medusa is no longer buffed by Doubling Cube
Echoing Fae no longer copies negative buffs
Gokatoo will grant 2 bonus shops when you acquire him with only 1 heart
Two Headed Dragon no longer lets you pick 2 characters when goldened while playing Legend of Loxley
Getting Lucky Leprechaun on turn 5+ or 10+ will grant his charms immediately
